Milling & Engraving system
Milling gained prominence in the mid-1980s when die-cutters, and later die-makers, began milling their phenolic counters—now commonly known as 'rillma" (a trade name from Marbach believed to be derived from the German term 'Rill-Matrizen' (Creasing Matrix)) or also known as Pertinax counters. Companies like Lasercomb, Elcede, and Kongsberg started in the 80´s producing 'dedicated' milling machines or counter cutters, with hardware and software specifically designed for the packaging and die-making industry. Today Steel Rule Die-Makers have a variety of machines for milling Pertinax, plywood and steel counter plates.
